Buzz Kill

Fantaskey, Beth.  Buzz Kill.
This is an entertaining mystery.  The teenager, Millie finds herself involved in a murder mystery when the much hated football coach is found murdered. While investigating the murder and trying to clear her father's name, Millie becomes involved with the mysterious star quarterback.  Buzz Kill is a romantic mystery. I found it to be an overall good read.

There Will Be Bears

Gebhart, Ryan.  There will be bears.            Thirteen-year-old Tyson is having a rough year with no one to turn to but his incredibly cool grandpa.  Things get even worse when the long awaited hunting trip is canceled because his grandpa is suddenly taken away.  Nothing seems to go right for Tyson.  Overall a short fun read with humor blended with serious issues for poor young Tyson.

The Crossover

Alexander, Kwame.  The Crossover.

This hip-hop poetic narrative was mesmerizing.  It was difficult to put down. With a mom who is the assistant principal and a dad who is an ex NBA player, the twins, Josh and Jordan are destined to be high school basketball stars.  However, Crossover is about so much more than basketball. It is a story about friendship, family, loyalty and just plain growing up.
